You wear them. You snare them! You buy a new pair. Here’s how to break the cycle, and make those hose last!
1. Check for hangnails, then gently grasp the stocking, pantyhose or tights, bunching it up in your fingers until your thumbs have reached the tip of the toe.
2. Place one foot in so your toes are against the seams, adjusting so the fabric is properly positioned and not twisted.
3. Gradually nudge the hose up your leg (using the pads of your fingers – not fingernails), being careful to keep it straight as you slide it up. This is especially important for patterned or seamed hosiery.
4. Pull stockings to their full length (if you’re wearing them with a garter belt, see “How to Put On a Garter Belt”). For pantyhose and tights, keep going!
5. Once one leg is in, repeat the above steps for the other. If you find your tights are coming up short, gather more material, starting at the foot or ankle. Delicately pinch both sides and work the fabric up. This is preferable to grabbing your waist with both hands and yanking up.
